Maddy Leader

Maddy is honored to have been appointed by Supervisor, Susan Gorin in October 2019 to the Commission for the Status of Women. She and her husband, Shel moved to Sonoma from New Jersey in 2003. Since arriving she has served as President of Soroptimist International of Sonoma Valley, as well as being on the board since 2004. She has served as a Director on the Founder Region Board of Soroptimist International of the Americas. The Soroptimist mission is to improve the lives and women and girls, through social and economic empowerment. She is also Past President Emeritus of Congregation Shir Shalom, as well as serving on the board for more than 10 years. Raising funds for these organizations has been her main occupation. She co-chaired the Jewish Winemakers Tasting and Nosh for five years, as well as many other successful fundraisers.

Professionally, most of her life she was a Medical Practice Consultant with her own business in New Jersey.  She has a very great interest in fashion and has been a sales consultant for the Carlisle Collection, a direct sales company of elegant classic clothing. She attended the University of Colorado and Temple University majoring in business and sociology while raising her children. Amy is an artist and teacher, and Alex is a glass artist and teacher.
