Permit Sonoma is Sonoma County's consolidated land use planning and development permitting agency. Virtually any land development or construction that takes place in the unincorporated area of Sonoma County (outside the nine incorporated cities) is reviewed, permitted, and inspected by Permit Sonoma.
The Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) was created by State law in 1963 to regulate the boundaries of cities and special districts. There is a LAFCO in each of the 58 counties of California. Each LAFCO is an independent public agency.
Community Development Commission
The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (CDC) is dedicated to creating homes for all in thriving and inclusive neighborhoods. The CDC was established in 1978 as the County's public housing authority and is Sonoma County's lead agency for housing and homeless programs.
Sonoma Public Infrastructure (formerly TPW)
Sonoma Public Infrastructure (formerly Transportation and Public Works - TPW) administers critical services and infrastructure, including roads and public transit, an airport, multiple waste disposal sites, and water systems.
