Facilities Development and Management
General Services is now Sonoma Public Infrastructure - Website updates coming soon!
Construction News
The Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport continues to expand. Transportation & Public Works has tasked General Services with local contract and permitting support for three recent projects with critical deadlines. The aircraft parking apron was expanded to accommodate four large jets and passengers will now see temporary structures for ticketing/baggage-check and a large, bright, temporary Gate structure to accommodate the increased passenger load.
These temporary structures will allow the partial demolition of the existing terminal, followed by a major terminal expansion expected to open late 2020. The Terminal Expansion will receive substantial funding from the Federal Aviation Administration, and will significantly improve the passenger experience with a bright, enlarged waiting area and streamlined security and expanded baggage claim areas. General Services will be supporting the current photovoltaic-shaded parking lot expansion, a security expansion at the temporary Gate structure, a temporary baggage processing structure, and evaluation of the entire site for accessibility barrier removal to ensure the upcoming terminal expansion is ready for all travelers and guests.
