We Help You Claim Your Benefits

Thank you for your service to our country.

To support you and your family, the Sonoma County Veterans Service Office (VSO) can help you understand the benefits available to you.

We assist you with applications for Federal Veterans Administration (VA), State and local benefits.

These programs may include medical care, funds for education and benefits for your family.

Free Veterans Day Weekend Parking Pass Available

In honor of Veterans Day, military members and veterans will receive free parking at all Sonoma County Regional Parks for the upcoming holiday weekend, Friday through Monday, Nov. 11. Passes are available in advance at Sonoma County Regional Parks’ main office and the Sonoma County Veterans Service Office through 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, or throughout the holiday weekend at the staffed entrances to Spring Lake, Doran and Ragle Ranch parks.

Who Is Eligible?

  • All U.S. veterans
  • All spouses, dependent children and relatives of veterans

How to Claim Benefits

The first step is to meet with us in-person to learn about all the benefits available to you and your family.

  • Visit our Santa Rosa office during drop-in hours, Monday-Thursday, between 8-11 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. (no appointment needed).
  • Visit our office in Petaluma. Call to set up an appointment on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Visitors to Santa Rosa enjoy coffee, water and pastries donated by the Vietnam Veterans of America Redwood Empire Chapter 223. We thank the chapter for its generosity! 

Learn about Benefits at Monthly Seminars

Learn in-depth information about three types of benefit programs for veterans and their spouses. Give us a call to register for these free seminars, held in Santa Rosa once a month on the following Wednesdays:

Veterans Pension Seminar
1st Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m.
A needs-based benefit for wartime veterans with limited or no income, who are age 65 or older and have a permanent and total non-service-connected disability.

Veterans 100% Seminar
2nd Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m.
New benefit for veterans rated at 100%, permanent and total disability, or with individual unemployability due to a service-related disability.

Surviving Spouse Pension Seminar
3rd Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m.
Also called a Death Pension, this is a tax-free monetary benefit, payable to low-income, un-remarried, surviving spouses of a deceased wartime veteran.

VSO Office Closures

Please note that the VSO will be closed on the following days, in addition to regular County holidays:
