Lorena Barrera
Lorena, was born and raised in Vallejo, California. She attended UC Merced where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Following her graduation, she moved to Sonoma County to attend Sonoma State University as a graduate student. In 2016, she received her MPA. While in school, Lorena served as a volunteer in various internships in all levels of government. During this time, she became aware of the disconnect between people and their representatives. She then began working as a representative of a member of Congress where she was exposed to policy analysis and became more aware of the loopholes that exist in policy and affect both the public and the public agencies. The exposure to policy and the realization of public disconnect led her to deep interest in management in the public sector.
Appointed in July, 2015, Lorena Barrera serves as a community representative who cares about making a difference for women everywhere.
Lorena is currently an administrative analyst for the Town of Corte Madera in Marin County. As a minority in society, setting an example in the community is of great importance to Lorena. She believes in informing and educating people in order to strengthen communities and that assisting in the resolution of issues that affect us all is a great way to do just that.
