Chris Marlow, LMFT, QAPI Section Manager

Chris loves Sonoma County and has called it her home for 22 years.  She has worked for Sonoma County Behavioral Health since 2003, starting her career at a detox & residential SUD program while attending graduate school.  After obtaining her Master's Degree, she started working for various mental health programs providing case management, therapy, crisis intervention, and outreach services. Chris's favorite job in the field was supervising the Mobile Support Team, which provided mental health crisis services to community members. 

Chris has been a manager for the past 6 years, and as the QAPI Section Manager, is dedicated to ensuring that all behavioral health services are of excellent quality.

Christine Thomas, LMFT, Clinical Specialist

Christine Thomas, LMFT joined QAPI in the fall of 2019. Christine enjoys assuring Client’s Rights through the Grievance, Appeal and State Fair Hearing Processes, assisting programs by conducting Medi-Cal site certifications for our Community Based Organizations, county owned and operated programs, and Short Term Residential Treatment Programs (STRTPs), and supporting beneficiaries and staff by tracking the Beneficiary Requests for Service process.

Katrina Suprise, Quality Assurance Manager

Katrina Suprise is a licensed clinical social worker and currently serves as the Quality Assurance Manager for Sonoma County Behavioral Health (SCBH) Division. Katrina has over 20 years of experience working as a mental health professional.

Throughout her career, Katrina has worked in service to various underserved communities. In her role as Program Coordinator at The Living Room, she assisted with resource utilization to support homeless women and children. While, employed as a Health Information Specialist with Sonoma County Health Policy, Planning, and Evaluation she developed and implemented health promotion programs to reduce rates of diabetes and obesity among at-risk populations. Katrina also has several years of experience providing direct clinical support to mental health clients, including working as a Behavioral Health Clinician at Sonoma County Psychiatric Emergency Services and as a Care Coordinator at The Hub.

Beginning 2018, Katrina moved into her current position as the Quality Assurance Manager. In this role, Katrina is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing quality assurance initiatives associated with oversight of the SCBH mental health plan. A particular focus area is on ensuring SCBH Medi-Cal beneficiary protections and rights.

To this end, she supports the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve patient care. Katrina is also responsible for providing oversight of the Medi-Cal provider site certifications for contracted providers. Katrina is pleased to be in a leadership role within the Quality Assurance team, as it allows for use of her clinical abilities, program development and implementation skills, strong administrative capabilities, and her passion for consumer advocacy.  

Katrina Straight, Quality Assurance Manager

Kat began her career with Sonoma County ISD back in 1997, as part of a 3-year long Y2K conversion project. Ten years later, she returned to the County as an Employment Counselor with Human Services, and transferred to Health Services in 2011. Since that time, Kat has worked for Behavioral Health as a Senior Client Support Specialist, a Behavioral Health Clinician, and a Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist.  Kat left direct client care when she was promoted to work in DHS Administration as an Healthcare Compliance Analyst. 

Kat recently returned to Behavioral Health in the role of Auditing & Monitoring Manager, which she describes as a perfect union between right brain and left brain. Kat’s favorite job was working as an Homeless Outreach Worker for Project Hope, because her job included “driving around with a car full of snacks and a pocket full of bus tickets”, and people were always happy to see her!

Lisa Nosal, LMFT, Utilization Review Manager

Lisa Nosal, LMFT, has worked for Sonoma County Behavioral Health since 2013, first as a clinician and now as the Utilization Review Manager. In her role, she trains, reviews, and oversees all elements of Medi-Cal and Medicare documentation for the county’s specialty mental-health services and manages the acute inpatient utilization review process. Building on her previous experience as clinical supervisor for several treatment teams, as well as her experience as a clinician, she is working to build a culture in which documentation is seen as an essential component of quality clinical care, not simply a bureaucratic requirement.

She holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. cum laude in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard College.

Marcia Williams, Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist, Outpatient Utilization Review

Marcia has been with SCBH since February 2016. She started as a Clinician's Intern (MFTi), later transitioning into a Clinician position after completing her hours and passing her licensing exam, with the Transitional Recovery Team. She has also worked with the Older Adult Team (Meds Only), Older Adult FSP and then with the Integrated Recovery Team FSP. She has also assisted in providing coverage for Adult Access and the CSU. Marcia transitioned to QAPI in April 2020, where she assists in providing documentation training and guidance to SCBH staff and contractors, as well as reviewing and writing procedures and policies for the CSU. 

Prior to working at SCBH, Marcia worked at St. Vincent's School for Boys for 8 years in a variety of positions (Group Counselor to Day Treatment Clinician) and at SOS Community Counseling (seeing clients in the clinic as well as at Juvenile Hall via a SCOE contract). Marcia graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Dominican University of California and a M.A. in Community Mental Health Counseling from Sonoma State University. In her spare time, Marcia enjoys spending time with her children and husband, as well as their 3 dogs and chickens. She also enjoys reading, watching TV, camping and playing soccer.

Nathan Hobbs, LCSW, Quality Improvement Manager

As Quality Improvement Manager, Nathan leads a team of dedicated QI staff who partner with clinical staff, managers, contractors and clients in a shared effort to continuously improve service quality and beneficiary outcomes within Sonoma County’s mental health plan.  

Nathan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in behavioral health and social services.  His specialty includes program administration and evaluation within mental health, substance use, and child welfare systems.  

Shannon Beaudoin, BH Clinical Specialist

In 1990, Shannon began working at a non-profit residential treatment program and non-public school, where he pursued his passion for working with underserved youth and families.  In this setting, he held a variety of clinical and administrative positions including Therapist, Admissions Coordinator, and Director of Education.  It was in this setting that Shannon was introduced to quality assurance activities in both the clinical and education programs.  After 25 years with this agency, Shannon began working with the County of Sonoma, Behavioral Health Division on the Transition Age Youth team as a Behavioral Health Clinician in November 2015. 

In July 2016, Shannon joined the Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement (QAPI) program as a Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist.  Back then, QAPI was a four-person team so he had a great opportunity to experience the range of quality assurance activities.  Currently, as a member of the Audit and Monitoring Team he enjoys participating in MH audits and the unique challenge of SUD audits.  In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with friends attending music and food events throughout the Bay Area.

Hospital Utilization Review Team

This team audits all psychiatric inpatient documentation for Sonoma County Medi-Cal beneficiaries and uninsured residents to ensure that hospital services are rendered and documented according to state and federal regulation. The Hospital UR Team covers Treatment Authorization Requests (TARs), Short Doyle authorizations, and appeals.
