Negotiations Public Updates:
Published: January 30, 2023
The County of Sonoma and SEIU met for their eleventh bargaining session on January 25, 2023. Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association (SCERA) Chief Executive Officer, Julie Wyne presented on considerations of pension cost-of-living adjustments for future recipients. Additionally, both parties provided counter proposals and engaged in discussions around pending matters.
To date, the County’s comprehensive offer to SEIU provides for a responsible and competitive compensation and benefit package that balances employee recruitment and retention goals with fiscal sustainability. Guided by the County’s compensation philosophy, the package provides, in part, salary increases for those positions identified as under the market average as well as an additional 12% wage increase over three years, annual increases to the County’s medical insurance benefit, a wage increase for extra help employees, an increase in bilingual pay and a number of non-economic improvements to the labor agreement.
The parties return to the table Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
