<p>The  County of Sonoma and <abbr title="Service Employees' International Union">SEIU</abbr>  met on February 21, 2018,at <abbr title="Service Employees' Internation Union">SEIU’s</abbr> request, to begin successor contract negotiations. <abbr title="Service Employees' International Union">SEIU</abbr>submitted initial proposals for changes to employee leaves and new employeeorientation procedures. <p>The County of Sonoma and <abbr title="Service Employees International Union">SEIU</abbr> representatives conducted their 9<sup>th</sup>bargaining session on May 16<sup>th</sup>.  The <abbr title="County of Sonoma">County</abbr> began thesession by responding to the <abbr title="Service Employees International Union">SEIU</abbr>’s conceptual proposal for a contract extension,addressing wages, medical benefits, holiday pay, and retiree health benefitlanguage changes. <p>County and <abbr title="Service Employees’ International Union">SEIU</abbr> representatives met on May 30<sup>th</sup> for the parties’ 11<sup>th</sup>bargaining session. <p>The County of Sonoma and <abbr title="Service Employees International Union">SEIU</abbr> representatives met on Friday, June 8, 2018<sup></sup>for the parties’ 12<sup>th</sup> bargaining session. Thediscussions were productive and resulted in a conceptual agreement, pendingBoard approval. The parties’ meet again on Thursday, June 14, 2018<sup></sup>. </p>

The parties exchanged proposals, executed a tentativeagreement on a language clarification related to staff development, anddiscussed their respective proposals on the grievance procedure, direct deposit,and layoff communication procedures.  The parties return to thebargaining table on November 16, 2018. </p>
