Notice of Office(s) to Be Filled (Town of Windsor)

Published: July 09, 2020

Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Election will be held in the Town of Windsor on Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 2020, for the following office(s):

OFFICE NO. TO BE ELECTED TERM OF OFFICE QUALIFICATIONS
Mayor 1 2 yrs Registered Voter in the Town
Town Councilmember – District 3 1 4 yrs Registered Voter in the District

Official nomination petitions for eligible candidates desiring to file for the above office(s) may be obtained from the Office of the Town Clerk, 9291 Old Redwood Hwy., Bldg 400, Windsor, beginning July 13, 2020, through August 7, 2020, by appointment only.  Due to COVID-19, Town offices are still closed to the public.  However, the Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk will be available to issue and accept nomination papers by appointment only during the nomination period.

Note that the Town of Windsor is transitioning from at-large elections to a district-based election system.  Since this is the first time when the offices of the Mayor and Town Councilmember in District 3 are up for election, there are no incumbents.  Therefore, there will be no extension of the nomination period.  If no one or only one person is nominated for an elected office (or, in the case of an office to be elected at large, the number of persons nominated does not exceed the number of seats to be filled), appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by Elections Code §10229.

Voting locations will be open on Election Day between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, voting locations will also be open for limited times on the three days prior to Election Day.  Specific hours for those days will be announced closer to Election Day.

For further information and to set up an appointment, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at (707) 838-5315 or via email at mdelao@townofwindsor.com.
