Language Accessibility Advisory Committee (LAAC)

The Language Accessibility Advisory Committee (LAAC) advises and assists the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office with implementation of federal and state laws related to access to the electoral process by voters with limited-English proficiency. It also provides recommendations identifying and prioritizing activities, programs, and policies to ensure every voter has equal access to the ballot regardless of language.

Sonoma County is designated a Spanish bilingual county under Section 203 of the Federal Voting Rights Act (VRA) and must also provide limited language assistance in Khmer, Tagalog, and Vietnamese under the California Voting for All Act.

The LAAC holds meetings approximately every three months. Anybody from the public is welcome to attend the meetings! You don't have to be a formal member of the committee!
