Monthly CalFresh Benefits to Arrive on March 1, 2019

Santa Rosa,CA | February 13, 2019

The State of California will issue March CalFresh food and nutrition benefits to all eligible residents on a single day, Friday, March 1.

The usual dates that benefits are issued on EBT cards are March 1-9. EBT cards are like credit cards, where benefits are added monthly to help cover the cost of food for eligible low-income residents during the coming month.

“We want to assure grocery stores and farmers markets that accept CalFresh EBT cards their payments will process as usual through March,” says Karen Fies, Director of the Sonoma County Human Services Department, which manages the state’s CalFresh program through its Economic Assistance Division.

President Trump reopened the government services on January 25, three week after a partial federal shutdown. The federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was then able to send benefit funds to the states to pay for CalFresh benefits in March.
