Explore Foster Parenting at Online Talks in English or Spanish

Santa Rosa,CA | January 04, 2021

There’s an URGENT NEED for foster parents and adoptive families to open their homes to local foster children. Single, married, straight or LGBTQ, caring foster parents bring healing, safety and stability to a child who has experienced abuse or neglect at home.

Learn how you can make a difference in a child’s life at an Explore Foster Parenting introductory talk, held each month online in English or, new this year, in Spanish.

The first monthly talk will be on January 25 for English speakers and February 8 for Spanish speakers, starting at 6 p.m. To see the 2021 monthly Explore Foster Parenting schedule, visit sonomafostercare.org/Connect-With-Us/.

To get a Zoom invitation to one of the scheduled talks, call (707) 565-4274 two days before the date you wish to attend.

During the talk, you’ll hear from experienced foster parents and local foster care agencies about the different types of foster parents who:

  • Provide a temporary home as an emergency foster parent or foster parent,
  • Foster parent a child with the potential of adoption or
  • Rent out a room and act as a mentor to an older foster youth going to school or working.

Talks are hosted by the Sonoma County Family, Youth and Children's Division, TLC Child & Family Services, Alternative Family Services, Lilliput Families and Seneca.

For more information about becoming a Sonoma County foster parent, visit sonomafostercare.org or call (707) 565-4274.
