Driving Under the Influence Program
The Driving Under the Influence Program works with the Court to provide services to first time and multiple offenders, with offices in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sonoma, and Guerneville.
Step 1: Attend an Online Orientation Meeting
To enroll in the Driving Under the Influence (DUI) program you must first attend an orientation meeting.
Orientation Meeting Days, Location and Times
Currently, the DUI Program offers orientation, education, and group and individual counseling telehealth services through the Zoom meeting platform. You must have a computer, a smartphone, or a tablet with video and sound capabilities, and we must be able to see and hear you during program activities. New intake appointments, schedule changes, re-enrollments, transfer-in, and return from a leave of absence are in person and by appointment only.
Total program enrollment requires completing a 2-step process: 1) You first must attend an online orientation, and 2) you must complete an in-person intake appointment.
We offer online orientations on Wednesdays from 12-2:00 PM and Thursdays from 4-6:00 PM only. You may call (707) 565-7640 to be placed on the orientation list. We will need your first and last name, email, and the best phone # to reach you. You can also email us at Clerical.Info@sonoma-county.org.
What You Must Email to Attend the Online Orientation Meeting
To attend an online orientation, you must:
- Fill out the Participant Demographic Information Form, save the form, then email the completed form to clerical.info@sonoma-county.org. If using a mobile device, emailing screen shots of the completed form will be acceptable.
- Email the necessary court referral or Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV K-4 form-driving record) paperwork to clerical.info@sonoma-county.org.
- The K-4 is available at any local DMV branch office.
You will not be able to attend orientation without this required paperwork. If your DUI court of record is outside of Sonoma County, you will be required to provide the K-4 form from DMV, or the court paperwork from the court of record.
If you do not have a driver's license number you will be required to obtain your "X" number from the DMV and provide this information at the time of enrollment into the DUI program.
- Download the Request for X Number form (PDF: 26.1 kB) to make this request at DMV.
Step 2: Schedule a Program Intake Appointment to Enroll
Program intakes are scheduled by calling the following week after you attend an orientation. If you attend a Wednesday or Thursday orientation please call on the following Monday or later to schedule your intake appointment.
Please note that you are not fully enrolled in the DUI program until you complete an in-person intake appointment. A proof of enrollment certificate, required to obtain a restricted license, will NOT be issued to the DMV until you complete the online intake appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a restricted license while attending the DUI program?
Depending on the program you need to attend, you may qualify for a restricted license. The restricted license will allow you to drive to work and to your DUI program. First offenders and extended offenders often qualify to get a restricted license. Multiple offenders typically have their license suspended for at least one year before they may qualify for a restricted license. In addition, multiple offenders may qualify to drive their vehicles with an interlock devise installed. Wet reckless offenders will not qualify for a restricted license, but will get their full license back after completing the program. Whenever dealing with driver's license questions, it is always best to call DMV Mandatory Actions directly, (916) 657-6525, to find out what is true for your situation.
Will my attendance in your program stay confidential?
We are mandated to adhere to strict confidentiality laws. Unless, you have signed a confidentiality form allowing us to contact anyone or any organization, we are prohibited from acknowledging your attendance in our program. There are no exceptions without a signed confidentiality form.
