Sonoma County residents making $70,500 considered “low income”

The California Department of Housing and Community Development released its 2023 income levels used to determine eligibility for housing assistance this week, resetting the low-income level at $70,500 per year for single-person households. Median income for a four-person household is now set at $128,100. For a complete list of income levels set by the state, visit https://srp-prod-public-pdfs.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/-dPY_WamIn_qxrgUGVImAzZ8OfM.pdf.

Based on income levels, Sonoma County residents can apply for assistance, such as Section 8 housing vouchers and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.  For more information and help applying for rental assistance vouchers and special needs programs, visit the Sonoma County Housing Authority page at  https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/development-services/community-development-commission/divisions/sonoma-county-housing-authority.

After pause, work on SMART extension to Windsor resumes

After a pause due to litigation and pandemic-related funding shortfalls, SMART is resuming work on an extension from the Santa Rosa Airport station to Windsor. With the Windsor station building and one-third of the track already constructed, the extension is slated for completion in 2025.

Once the work is completed, SMART plans on extending service to Healdsburg and then Cloverdale, completing the proposed 70-mile train line approved by voters in Sonoma and Marin counties in 2008.
