Summary of Proposals Now Available
Members of the Lower Russian River Homeless Task Force have selected six organizations to receive funding to house 50 individuals experiencing homelessness and mitigate the effects of homelessness in the Lower Russian River. The document below outlines summaries of the proposals and the rationale of the review panel for the funding amounts determined. Cavity Free Sonoma Program Launches
Cavity Free Sonoma is a new countywide program helping children age 0 through 6 years of age, who are eligible for Medi-Cal insurance, get dental care before they have pain and infection. This new program is operating in every community health center dental clinic and is accepting new patients. Read full story

Blue-Green Algae Toxins Detected in Russian River
On Wednesday, July 26, 2017 DHS received test results indicatingthat a low-level of blue-green algae toxins are present in certain areas of theriver. In accordance with state guidance, the level of toxin present is enoughto trigger the posting of “Caution” signs. Signs in both English and Spanishwill be posted at the ten major beaches along the Russian River. Read full story
Tobacco Retail License Renewal
By June 30, 2017, all licensed tobacco retailers located in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County must renew their Tobacco Retail License from the Sonoma County Health Department in order to continue selling tobacco products (including electronic cigarettes). Read full story
