Sonoma County increases Living Wage to $17.25 an hour starting on Jan. 1, 2023

The Board of Supervisors today authorized the Sonoma County Economic Development Board to move forward on finalizing the broadband internet infrastructure design for unserved and underserved areas of unincorporated Sonoma County, consistent with the Resilient Infrastructure pillar of Sonoma County’s Five-Year Strategic Plan. Sonoma County Board of Supervisors adopts road safety action plans to reduce traffic collisions, roadway fatalities

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today signaled ongoing support for public investment in roadway safety by adopting the Sonoma County Local Road Safety Plan and, separately, adopting the Vision Zero Action Plan, which are intended to reduce roadway collisions and fatalities and improve public safety for all road users in Sonoma County. The County of Sonoma is issuing a freeze warning in response to the National Weather Service’s prediction of sub-freezing temperatures overnight tonight and possibly through Sunday morning. Officials recommend that residents limit time outdoors, as serious medical conditions including hypothermia and frostbite can develop with prolonged cold weather exposure. Read full story

Sonoma County Board of Supervisors receives five-year fiscal forecast

Sonoma County is projecting a General Fund deficit of $13 million during the 2024-25 fiscal year with more annual deficits to follow through 2025, Deputy County Administrator Peter Bruland informed the Board of Supervisors as part of his five-year fiscal forecast Tuesday. The projection is based on an anticipated decrease in property tax growth, reductions in one-time funding, and an increase in pension costs due to investment declines in pension funds. County officials and community partners are inviting the public to take part in a webinar on Friday, November 4 at 3:30 p.m. as part of a new safety communications informational campaign.
