Broadband mapping underway in rural Sonoma County

As Sonoma County takes the next step toward expanding broadband internet in unincorporated areas, please be aware that AirWorks drone crews will be conducting work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday, May 30, as part of a broadband installation project.

If you live in the rural areas targeted by the project – including Walsh Landing, Jenner, Cloverdale, Asti and northeast Santa Rosa – you may see drones flying between 200 and 3,000 feet to map utility structures, roads, sidewalks and curbs. This information is critical to improving connectivity and access to high-speed internet in unserved and underserved communities.

Ground crews will also be conducting safety checks and measurements. Residents can expect some minimal noise during operations.
