New edition of SoCo Correspondent available now

One of the things that makes Sonoma County a special place is its commitment to fund parks and conserve scenic landscapes. In this edition of the SoCo Correspondent, read updates on how sales tax measures approved by voters in 2006 and 2018 are being used to create recreational spaces in Santa Rosa and the Sonoma coast.

State Highway 12 weekend roadwork alert

Caltrans has scheduled weekend roadwork impacting westbound Highway 12 between Dutton Avenue and Santa Rosa Avenue in Santa Rosa beginning Friday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. though Monday, Feb. 26 at 5 a.m. Eastbound Highway 12 will remain open all weekend.

  • Full closure from Friday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. to Saturday Feb. 24 at 8 a.m.
  • One lane open from Saturday Feb. 24, at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Full closure from Saturday, Feb. 24, 8 p.m. to Sunday Feb. 25 at 8 a.m.
  • One lane open from Sunday Feb. 25, at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Full closure from Sunday, Feb. 25, 8 p.m. to Monday Feb. 26 at 5 a.m.
  • All lanes open beginning Monday, Feb. 26, at 5 a.m.

Friday evening and Monday morning commutes are not expected to be impacted. Follow signage for detours during full closures.

Upcoming webinars on vegetation management grant program

Local fire districts, schools, communities with Wildfire Protection Plans, Resource Conservation Districts, and others are invited to participate in upcoming webinars on Tuesday, Feb. 27, and Tuesday, March 12, 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

The Sonoma County Vegetation Management Grant Program provides funding to empower eligible agencies in the fight against wildfires. Accepted projects create fuel breaks, expand defensible space around homes and clear vegetation along evacuation routes.

Individual landowners and private companies are unable to apply alone, but are encouraged to partner with eligible agencies for maximum impact.
