Top Five Tips to Protect Against a Winter Virus

This holiday season, another surge in COVID infections along with high levels of influenza (flu) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), are straining healthcare systems and impacting families. The good news is that there are easy actions everyone can take to stay healthy this season.

Health officials are recommending the following top five tips to protect against a winter virus:

  1. Get vaccinated and boosted
  2. Stay home if sick and get tested for COVID-19 so you can get treated
  3. Wear a well-fitting mask in crowded indoor spaces
  4. Wash your hands regularly
  5. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or use your elbow

Opportunities to Get Involved with Local Government

There are several opportunities to get involved with Sonoma County government by serving on local boards, commissions, and committees. Currently, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is seeking community members to fill vacant positions on the Assessment Appeals Board.

What is the Assessment Appeals Board?

The Assessment Appeals Board makes determinations about property values for Sonoma County property owners. There are currently two vacancies to serve a three-year term.

Members must have a minimum of five years professional experience in California as a certified public accountant or public accountant, licensed real estate broker, attorney, property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization, or a property appraiser certified by the Office of Real Estate Appraisers, or a property appraiser certified by the State Board of Equalization.

Meetings are usually held on the first Friday of each month. Location is via zoom or in person at the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 575 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa.

Compensation includes $125 for half day of participation or $250 for a full day of participation.
