Showing: 17 of 7

  • We believe everyone has something to offer, and we need you! We have lots of different jobs. Our volunteer opportunities allow community members to donate their valuable gift of time and energy to better the lives of Sonoma County Animal Services animals.

  • Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department

The Emergency Management Division has 125 Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) volunteers who supplement the County’s emergency communications capabilities in the event of a disaster. These volunteers are registered Disaster Service Workers who provide administrative, technical and operational support for emergency communications between local and state agencies.

  • More than 1,000 volunteers donate their time, energy and expertise to Sonoma County Regional Parks each year. Volunteers build trails, lead interpretative hikes, maintain campgrounds, patrol park trails, build fences and much more. Groups from the Boy Scouts, local businesses and schools also spend thousands of hours maintaining our parks. We invite you to discover the parks through our volunteer program. We strive to match your skills and interests to a volunteer position that helps us: Enhance the quality of life in Sonoma County, Provide recreational, social and cultural opportunities to the public, and Preserve, conserve and restore our natural, scenic and historical resources.

Bring your passion for victim advocacy to the Victim-Witness Assistance Volunteer Program. The program recruits, trains and places student and community volunteers, who work side-by-side with Victim Advocates at the Victim Assistance Center. Volunteers play an integral role in providing social services, advocacy, community outreach and referrals as well as helping victims complete applications for compensation.

  • Fire and Emergency Services Department

When a fire blazes or disaster threatens, Volunteer Firefighters answer the call. Do you have what it takes to meet the challenge? Become one of approximately 300 fire service volunteers who provide support to 15 all-volunteer fire companies throughout the unincorporated County Service Area (CSA #40).

  • Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) – Volunteers In Policing (VIPs) are adult citizen volunteers from Sonoma County who assist the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office with duties not specifically defined as law enforcement activities. VIPs are not peace officers, do not make arrests and do not carry weapons. VIPs act as additional “eyes and ears” for the department and enjoy the challenge and excitement offered by assisting law enforcement and support personnel, as well as the satisfaction of providing a worthwhile community service. VIPs serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff and are not covered by the Civil Service System.
