Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception
Each year, the County of Sonoma joins local governments and nonprofits across the nation to Celebrate Service from our excellent volunteers. Each year, the President of the United States of America issues a Presidential Proclamation for National Volunteer Week. Volunteer Week is observed during the 4th week of April when we recognize America’s history of individuals who selflessly serve others in our nation.
Each year, nearly 500 volunteers, County staff who work with them, Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator and guests join in celebration of the dedication, talent, and the community spirit of giving.
The Chair of the Board of Supervisors presents a resolution in honor of National Volunteer Week, recognizing the invaluable role of Sonoma County’s 3,000 volunteers. At the recognition event, the Chair along with other members of the Board of Supervisors present awards and resolutions to a number of Outstanding Volunteers selected by departments and programs.
