California Apostille Pop-Up event happens November 14
The Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor is hosting the California Secretary of State for an Apostille Pop-Up Shop on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 585 Fiscal Dr., Room 103, in Santa Rosa.
An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the signature of a California public official or notary public on a document for use in another country. An Apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature of the public official who signed the document, the capacity in which that public official acted, and when appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the document bears, e.g. a notary public seal.
The Apostille does not validate the contents of the document.

Tenant Protection Act webinar for landlords November 19
Sonoma County will host a webinar on Nov. 19 to update landlords about their responsibilities under a new tenant protection ordinance recently adopted by the Board of Supervisors. The online informational session, which will include Spanish interpretation, will feature representatives from the Sonoma County Counsel’s Office.

The new County ordinance augments the California Tenant Protection Act, a 2019 state law that limits rent increases and requires landlords of many types of rental units to have a just cause to evict a tenant. Just-cause evictions are allowed for such things as nonpayment of rent, lease violations or criminal activity.

Housing Authority application deadline November 30
The Sonoma County Housing Authority is accepting applications for one- and two-bedroom Project-Based Vouchers waitlist lotteries through Nov. 30. The waitlists will be for applicants who meet the qualifications for “extremely low income,” which is at or below 30 percent of area median income.
Applicants will be required to provide information regarding income and any preferences for which they may qualify. To qualify, a family of four would have to make $41,500 or less per year.
Applications will be accepted for Project-Based Voucher units at the following locations:
- Alta Madrone Apartments in Sonoma
- Fetters Apartments in Sonoma
- Logan Place in Petaluma
- Crossroads Apartments in Santa Rosa
- Fife Creek Commons in Guerneville
- Windsor Redwoods Apartments in Windsor
- The Randall Apartments in Healdsburg
