PG&E to Start Restoring Power Today

Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) has notified the County of Sonoma that it has begun to conduct equipment inspections to restore power to the 200,000 residents in Sonoma County affected by the Power Shutoff. PG&E has said they expect to make progress today in restoring power to some areas in the County. Other portions of the county will remain without power until PG&E has inspected the electrical infrastructure and determined that they can safely restore service. 

County officials have set up six Alternate Emergency Reporting Stations where residents in affected areas may go to report emergencies if they are unable to use their home phones to call 9-1-1. Beginning today, Thursday, October 10, affected residents can request emergency services at the Starcross Monastic Community Center in Annapolis, Geyserville Fire Stations 1 and 2, the Knights Valley Volunteer Fire Station, the Bennett Valley Fire District Station, and the Schell-Vista Fire Station in Sonoma. In addition, there are emergency landline call boxes functioning 24 hours outside of six fire stations in the affected areas that residents may use to report emergencies (see complete list below).

The map’s black telephone icons indicate an Alternative Emergency Reporting Station and the white telephone icons indicate an emergency call box. Users can click on the icons to see the location and hours.

At the six designated Alternate Emergency Reporting Stations, residents will be connected to a staffed radio operator who will connect them to emergency services to report the incident. If cellular service is restored while traveling to an Alternate Emergency Reporting Station, emergency officials recommend that residents pull over safely to the side of the road and dial 9-1-1, which will offer a faster response to the emergency. After making the call, residents are encouraged to continue to the Alternate Emergency Reporting Station to follow-up on the emergency request in case the call to 9-1-1 was interrupted.
