Fleet Building-Frame

General Services is now Sonoma Public Infrastructure - Website updates coming soon!

The need for the new Fleet and Materials Lab Facility and the Russell Avenue Street and Utility Improvements stemmed from the sale of County campus land to the State of California for the construction of a new courthouse.  The land was sold to the state and will become a parking lot to support the courthouse. The new Fleet and Materials Lab facility is located on the northwest corner of the County campus at the southeast corner of Highway 101 and Bicentennial Drive.

The 21,000-square-foot facility will be used for servicing the county’s fleet of vehicles and for testing and analysis of soil and paving materials. The facility includes full-service vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair for both the County and other jurisdictions. The new fleet facility includes electric charging stations for 20 of the county’s 49 electric vehicles.

CalRecycleAs part of the new Fleet and Materials Lab Facility project, the County of Sonoma used shredded tires in the bioswales design in lieu of a standard bioswale aggregate. The shredded tire product is called tire derived aggregate. This project used 208 tons of tire derived aggregate which is the equivalent of 20,000 tires that were diverted from the landfills. This project was partially funded by CalRecycle.
