Tier 3: Supervisors & Managers
Objective:
Tier 3 is designed for staff with supervisory or managerial responsibilities to establish, strengthen, and explore leadership principles and practices.
The courses will develop supervisory and managerial skills that can be applied to increase effectiveness and engagement; identify ways to promote communication, coach employee performance, and measuring self development; and explore leadership principles and practices addressing racial equity, cultural belonging, and supervising a diverse workforce.
NOTE: Tier 3 is available to County employees who may supervise one or more direct reports, and/or lead a unit or team, and/or oversee services and/or oversee programs. (Non-emerging leaders may register for Tier 3 classes, however class seats will be prioritized for Emerging Leaders.)

Emerging Leader Certificate of Completion
STEP 1 - Submit the enrollment form
STEP 2 - Receive WorkDev email notifying you of approval status
STEP 3 - If approved, log into sonoma higher ed and select the EL Certification on your plan
STEP 4 - Register for classes & see your progress

Guidelines for participation:
- Open to staff who are current Emerging Leaders (see requirements above).
- Successful participants complete the series of required and elective courses, in any order.
- This certificate program is self-directed: enroll in classes as fits your work schedule and with manager approval.
- In-Person classes at Workforce Development, Virtual and Web-Based classes through sonoma higher ed.
- There are no time limits for certificate completion, however courses subject to change over time.
- Credit for previous similar but different coursework will not be given.
