Community input sought on governance solutions report at Lower Russian River Municipal Advisory Council meeting on February 8
Supervisor Lynda Hopkins and the Lower Russian River Municipal Advisory Council will discuss the Governance Solutions Report at its February 8 meeting. The Lower Russian River Municipal Advisory Council seeks public input on Lower Russian River Governance study
Supervisor Lynda Hopkins and The Lower Russian River Municipal Advisory Council are inviting the public to take part in the final workshop to ask questions and provide feedback on the draft Lower Russian River Governance Study. The workshop will be held at Guerneville School, 14630 Armstrong Woods Road, Guerneville, on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. In-person Spanish interpretation will be made available. Supervisor Rabbitt elected chair of Sonoma County Board of Supervisors; Hopkins named as vice chair
Supervisor David Rabbitt on Tuesday was elected chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors in a unanimous vote of the five-member body. Supervisor Lynda Hopkins was named vice chair, and Supervisor James Gore was named chair pro-tem. Read full story

County allocates nearly $4.4 million to support climate resiliency projects
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved $4.38 million for a variety of local climate resiliency projects ranging from building up local government electric vehicle infrastructure to a fare-free transit program for youth on public transit and others. The County anticipates being able to use these funds as leverage to bring in roughly $6 million in outside funding. Read full story

Board of Supervisors finalizes purchase of former Bank of America building in Guerneville
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a revised agreement to acquire the former Bank of America building in downtown Guerneville, securing a key satellite office used to deliver government services to residents in lower Russian River communities. Read full story

Board of Supervisors adopts well drilling moratorium
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved a moratorium for new well permits until April 4, 2023 in Sonoma County to allow staff more time to develop recommendations for updating the county’s well ordinance. The board also directed Permit Sonoma, Sonoma County’s natural resources and permitting agency, to establish a Technical Advisory Committee to make recommendations for implementing Public Trust Review requirements. County, Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria sign co-management agreement of Tolay Lake Regional Park
The County of Sonoma and the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria have entered into a long-term agreement to co-manage Tolay Lake Regional Park, a partnership believed to be the first of its kind in California between a local government and a federally recognized tribe. Read full story

Board of Supervisors approves $360,000 contract for wildfire structural hardening assessments
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors voted today to approve a $361,034 contract with Wildfire Defense Works to provide structural hardening assessments in pre-identified project locations throughout the county. Wildfire Defense Works will perform between 250 to 1,000 structural hardening assessments for Permit Sonoma’s Wildfire Adapted program. The contract is a portion of the $2.6 million in grant funding received by the county as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Read full story

Planning Commission to hold hearing on draft Environmental Impact Report for Sonoma Developmental Center
The Sonoma County Planning Commission will hold a hearing and seek public feedback on the draft Environmental Impact Report and draft specific plan for the Sonoma Developmental Center on Sept. 15, 2022 at 1 p.m. The draft Environmental Impact Report evaluated a proposed specific plan for the Sonoma Developmental Center site, two lower density alternatives, and two scenarios where the county doesn’t proceed with a project in 16 key areas of the property.
