Coronavirus/COVID-19 Information Update

As of Tuesday 3/17/20, Sonoma County Animal Services will be open to the public by appointment only – Please contact our staff directly by calling 707-565-7100 to make an appointment for animal surrenders, and lost/found animals, including reunification – We are currently closed for adoptions. While office staff are also available to service transactions via phone, we encourage you to use our online services for licensing, etc. due to limited availability. Our Animal Control Officers are limited, at this time, to public safety and emergency service only. All volunteer activities at the shelter have been temporarily postponed.

Fees for Dog and Puppy Adoptions

6 years of age or older: $94
4 months to 6 years of age: $126
8 weeks to 4 months of age: $168

Adoption fee includes:

  • Spay or neuter surgery 
  • DHLPP & Bordetella ("Kennel Cough") vaccines
  • Rabies vaccine
  • Heartworm testing
  • Microchip
  • Free or discounted post-adoption health exam from a local veterinarian
  • Free post-adoption behavior advice

Adoption fee does not include a dog license, required for all dogs 4 months and older

    Fees for Cat and Kitten Adoptions

    6 years of age and older: $52.50
    4 months to 6 years of age: $79
    8 weeks to 4 months of age: $132

    Adoption fee includes:

    • Spay or neuter surgery
    • Feline Leukemia test (8 weeks to 6 months of age)
    • Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus/Heartworm test (6 months of age and older)
    • FVRCP vaccine
    • Rabies vaccine
    • Microchip
    • Free or discounted post-adoption health exam from a local veterinarian
    • Free post-adoption behavior advice
    • Travel box

    Adoption fee does not include a one-time fee for a cat license.

    Fees for Bunny and Small Animal Adoptions

    Rabbit: $21.00
    Includes spay or neuter surgery, microchip and travel box

    Small Mammals, Hen/Rooster: $10.50
    Includes travel box

    Livestock, Reptiles, Birds, Fish, Exotic Animals: Fair market value

    Silver Paws for Love

    Adopt a Senior Pet

    Silver Paws for Love is a senior-to-senior adoption program that encourages the adoption of senior pets by senior people.

    The adoption fee is waived if you are 55 years of age or older, and you adopt a pet who is 6 years of age or older.

    The Silver Paws for Love program is subsidized by a grant from the Paws for Love Foundation.
