Brittany Lobo, a section manager in the Sonoma County Department of Health Services, has been recognized as one of the top rising public health leaders in the nation. Lobo was included in the de Beaumont Foundation’s 40 Under 40 in Public Health list, which was announced today. Read full story

Board of Supervisors approves Municipal Greenhouse Gas Inventory as baseline for climate resilience, adaptation

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved an inventory of its greenhouse gas emissions that showed a 37 percent decrease in emissions from 2017 to 2021. Officials attribute the decrease primarily to impacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The approval of the County of Sonoma Municipal Greenhouse Gas Inventory followed a status update and public workshop on progress toward the Climate Action and Resiliency pillar of the County’s strategic plan. The Sonoma County Human Services Department will close its economic assistance office at 2550 Paulin Drive in Santa Rosa and its telephone service center at (877) 699-6868 on Friday, Sept. 1 while the department completes upgrades to a critical software system over Labor Day weekend. Sonoma County Supervisors approve Housing Element

The Board of Supervisors Tuesday unanimously approved an update to Sonoma County’s Housing Element, a component of the General Plan that, among other things, identifies pipeline projects and developable areas to ensure the county meets its obligation to create 3,824 additional housing units by 2031. Charles M. Schulz — Sonoma County Airport celebrates completion of $40 million modernized air terminal

County, state and federal representatives joined officials from the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport today to celebrate the completion of the final phase of the $40 million air terminal modernization project. The final segment features a renovated front entrance of the terminal, which has been transformed by glass paneling. Bronze statues of Charlie Brown and Linus have also returned to the front of the terminal to welcome travelers. Read full story

The County of Sonoma Department of Health Services has issued a Health Advisory concerning multiple reports of participants in a Tough Mudder race at Sonoma Raceway on Aug. 19 and 20 having developed rash with fever, muscle pain, or nausea/vomiting occurring about 24 hours after the event.
