Judy Rice

Judy RiceJudy Rice began her career working with the United Nations Development Program in Geneva, the Congo and Iran.  She also devoted 15 years to aerospace and over 20 years as a private consultant, specializing in communication and organizational productivity issues. 

In the 7 years that Judy served as Chairman of the Sonoma County Human Rights Commission she was the force behind the creation of the Junior Commission on Human Rights, a series of community forums including events on Immigration and Human Trafficking, and the formation of strong alliances with a variety of County Government Departments and Sonoma County agencies.,

She has a long history of volunteerism in the County including service on the Sonoma County Grand Jury, work with the Earle Baum Center (volunteer coordinator), the Sebastopol Library Advisory Board (Chair) ,the Assistance Dog Institute, attendance at the Sheriff’s Citizen Academy, service as a State-certified sexual assault counselor with UASA (now Verity), and work with the Humane Society and Sonoma Bird Rescue.  More recently she served on the CALLE (Community and Local Law Enforcement) Task force where she Chaired the subcommittee on Community Engagement and Healing.  

Judy holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Development, has travelled extensively and is a published author.  She lives in Sebastopol, loves to cook, read, go to the movies and considers her primary obligation to slavishly serve the desires of her elderly cat.
