The purpose of the Commission is to promote better human relations among all people in Sonoma County through education, mediation, cooperation with County and community agencies, and by initiating action that fosters the recognition of and an appreciation for the cultural diversity of the community.
As a Commissioner
We recommend that you start out by attending one of our Commission's monthly meetings.
Commissioners are appointed by their respective Supervisors and serve for a 2-year term. Commissioners are expected to attend monthly meetings and work on at least one Commission ad hoc committee or project.
We are accepting applications. There are vacant positions in several of the districts.
As a Volunteer
Volunteers are members of the public who work with the Commission by serving on one of the Commission's project work groups, advisory boards, and/or helping with a special event. Volunteers are recognized for their service at an annual event that celebrates the contributions they bring to help deliver County programs and services.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call or email the Commission office.
