State grant funds two more years of invasive quagga mussel prevention program at Lake Sonoma

The Sonoma County Water Agency’s watercraft inspection program at Lake Sonoma will continue for another two years, thanks to almost $400,000 in state grant funding awarded in August and that went into effect as of Oct. 10. The California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways grant will fund the program to continue to prevent invasive quagga mussels from entering Lake Sonoma until October 2025. Read full story

Sonoma County Behavioral Health to host job fair November 9

The Sonoma County Behavioral Health Division is hosting a job fair on November 9 to recruit for multiple open clinical positions. Potential candidates are encouraged to pre-apply for a position by November 1. Participants who register, pre-apply and meet the minimum qualifications for the applicable job classification, will be given an opportunity to participate in an in-person interview during the fair on November 9. What’s the latest on Homelessness in Sonoma County? A Community Webinar (Webinar #1)

You are invited to participate in a public forum on homelessness. This forum will feature Michael Gause, Ending Homelessness Program Manager for the Sonoma County Department of Health Services, and Dennis Pocekay, Continuum of Care Board Chair and Petaluma City Council Member. The forum will begin with a brief presentation on the state of homelessness in Sonoma County, followed by an “open forum” style Q&A session. Read full story

The Sonoma County Information Systems Department was recently recognized by its peers among the National Association of Government Web Professionals with separate awards for two county websites - the Sonoma County Regional Parks microsite and the Sonoma County Economic Development Board’s Sonoma County Connections website. District 1 October 2023 Short Newsletter

This fall, we will finally be opening a Regional County Service Center in the Springs area of Sonoma. The goal of the center, which many have started calling the "hub," is to make county services that are largely centralized in Santa Rosa more accessible to residents of the Valley. Last week, I hosted a bilingual listening session to gather input from the community on what services they would like to see at the center. Read full story

Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership wins WaterSense Partner of the Year, Sustained Excellence awards

The Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership earned multiple awards today from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its work promoting the EPA WaterSense program and water efficiency in 2022.  Read full story

More than 1,700 individuals received financial assistance during January storms, county report shows

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday received an update on the emergency financial assistance support provided during the 2023 winter storms. A total of $812,853 was distributed from the Immediate Needs Fund to those impacted most by the winter storms. Read full story
