Nominations open November 13 for 21 federal, state and county offices that will be on the ballot in Sonoma County for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election. Criminal charges not warranted related to July 29, 2022, officer-involved shooting of David Pelaez-Chavez

On July 29, 2022, in a rural area of Sonoma County outside of Healdsburg, David Pelaez-Chavez was shot and killed by a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy. Pursuant to a county-wide protocol in which outside agencies investigate incidents of officer-involved shootings, the Santa Rosa Police Department investigated this shooting. At the conclusion of their investigation, they then provided their investigation to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office to evaluate the appropriateness of any potential criminal charges. Roseland development project to enter demolition phase; groundbreaking expected in 2024

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today authorized the county’s Community Development Commission to execute contracts to begin demolition to make way for the long-awaited Roseland Development Project, Tierra De Rosas. The demolition phase will include the installation of infrastructure for the Tierra De Rosas project and will play a critical role in the Casa Roseland Project, the affordable housing portion of the project.
