<p>Sex Offender Denied Elder Parole after Hearing </p>
California state prison Inmate Kelly Mclaughlin-Cross (60 years old, formerly of Sonoma County) was denied “Elder Parole” by the State Board of Parole Commissioners during a Tuesday afternoon hearing. Commissioners Ground and Lam ruled that McLaughlin-Cross would not be eligible to reapply for parole for an additional 5 years. Read full story

The County of SonomaBoard of Supervisors today adopted a resolution with the goal of achieving zerowaste in Sonoma County by 2030, consistent with objectives of the ClimateAction and Resiliency pillar of the County’s Five-Year Strategic Plan to reduceconsumption emissions, conserve energy and decrease methane emissions fromlandfills. County of Sonoma WIC agency earns national honor from USDA for breastfeeding support
The County ofSonoma’s Women-Infants-Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) hasreceived national recognition from the United States Department of Agriculture.The Loving Support Award of Excellence at the Gold Premiere level recognizesand celebrates Sonoma County’s exemplary breastfeeding programs and supportservices. Another New Regional Park and Open Space Preserve Coming to Sonoma Coast
This month the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag & Open Space) will transfer ownership of a 1,236-acre coastal property to Sonoma County Regional Parks. This land, owned and managed by Ag & Open Space as Wright Hill Ranch, will eventually open to the public as a regional park and open space preserve adjacent to the Red Hill portion of Sonoma Coast State Park, just south of where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Construction Commences on Solar Canopy System Over Long Term Parking Lot B at Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport (STS)
On Monday, August 16th, the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport commenced construction of a solar photovoltaic (PV) energy system. Developed by solar energy contractor ForeFront Power, the 884 kW solar PV energy project includes a solar PV canopy system over Long Term Parking Lot B. The solar PV canopy will offset the Airport’s greenhouse gas emissions by generating enough clean, renewable electricity to power 100% of Airport operations. Read full story
