Permit Sonoma seeking applicants for Equity Working Committee
Permit Sonoma is seeking applications from the public for its new Equity Working Committee. Members of the Equity Working Committee will help shape Permit Sonoma and Sonoma County’s environmental justice policies and risk-reduction planning for wildfire and other hazards by centering the expertise of under-resourced communities. A Fulton couple who fostered more than 140 children over the past two decades have been named the most outstanding foster parents in California by RaiseAChild, a nonprofit that partners with counties to recruit, review and train foster parents. Read full story
County allocates nearly $4.4 million to support climate resiliency projects
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved $4.38 million for a variety of local climate resiliency projects ranging from building up local government electric vehicle infrastructure to a fare-free transit program for youth on public transit and others. The County anticipates being able to use these funds as leverage to bring in roughly $6 million in outside funding. Read full story
Board of Supervisors finalizes purchase of former Bank of America building in Guerneville
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a revised agreement to acquire the former Bank of America building in downtown Guerneville, securing a key satellite office used to deliver government services to residents in lower Russian River communities. Read full story
Prescribed pile-burning operations planned at Gualala Point Regional Park
Sonoma County Regional Parks, in collaboration with CAL FIRE, the North Sonoma Coast Fire Protection District, and the South Coast Fire Protection District (Mendocino County), is planning to conduct pile burns at Gualala Point Regional Park on October 25th to take advantage of cool coastal conditions. Sonoma County’s Continuum of Care seeks public input on draft Homelessness Strategic Plan
Sonoma County’s Continuum of Care Board and its Strategic Planning Committee invites the public to provide input on a draft 2022 Homeless Strategic Plan and to learn more about the plan during a series of upcoming meetings. The Continuum of Care is a federally directed homelessness coordination system that works to ensure a regional homelessness system of care is coordinated and effective. Read full story
SONOMA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY SETTLES CIVIL CONSUMER PROTECTION ACTION AGAINST NAKED WINES
Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced today that her office, together with the District Attorneys of Alameda, Napa, San Diego, and Shasta Counties, settled a consumer protection lawsuit against Nakedwines.com, Inc. (“Naked Wines”), an online seller of wine. The complaint, which was filed in San Diego County Superior Court, alleges that Naked Wines violated California’s Automatic Renewal Law. Read full story
