Sonoma County Health Officer issues order requiring health care facility staff to wear a mask

Given the rising risk of respiratory virus-related illnesses such as COVID and flu, Sonoma County’s Health Officer today issued an order requiring health care personnel to mask when in patient care areas. The health order will be in effect throughout the respiratory virus season, which runs from Nov. 1 through April 30. Read full story

Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office Awarded More Than $2 Million To Fight Organized Retail Theft

Today, District Attorney Carla Rodriguez announced that the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office has been awarded $2.05 million in grant funding from the State of California’s Organized Retail Theft Grant Program, administered by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), to combat organized retail theft. Twelve additional prosecutor’s offices and 38 law enforcement agencies across the state were also funded in an effort to dismantle retail theft. Read full story

Three Sonoma County groundwater sustainability agencies awarded $15 million in state grant funds

The California Department of Water Resources announced on Sept. 12, 2023, that it will award grant funds to Sonoma County’s three groundwater sustainability agencies serving Petaluma Valley, Santa Rosa Plain and Sonoma Valley. The three basins will receive $15.1 million in funding, out of the $187 million that DWR awarded to 32 groundwater subbasins through its Sustainable Groundwater Management Grant Program Read full story

Sonoma County to limit verbal public comments to those attending in person at September 19 Board of Supervisors meeting

The County of Sonoma will not be allowing public comments to be made via Zoom for the next regular board meeting on Sept. 19. The change is due to the escalating challenges of maintaining civility among those who participate in the Public Comment portion of the Board meeting via Zoom. These challenges include a series of disruptive racist and hate-filled comments at the Sept. 12 board meeting that prevented the Board from completing its business. Read full story

Santa Rosa Man Receives Life Sentence for 2022 Shooting at Mendocino Avenue Taco-Bell

Defendant Brad Adams, 29 years old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced today by Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Troye Shaffer following his August convictions for attempted murder and shooting at an occupied building. Per the terms of a plea agreement, Adams was sentenced to 11 years to life in state prison. Read full story
