Wohler Bridge over Russian River in Sonoma County to close April 1 for construction work

SANTA ROSA, CA – The Wohler Road Bridge seismic retrofit project is entering its second and final year of construction. As part of this critical safety upgrade, the bridge over the Russian River will be closed to the public from April 1 to Oct. 15. Work will include replacing steel elements on the 103-year-old bridge, deck demolition and replacement, and pier footing retrofit.

During construction, drivers will be diverted on Eastside Road, Highway 101 and Westside Road to access Wohler Road. See the maps below.

The Board of Supervisors in February 2024 awarded an $18 million construction contract to Ghilotti Construction Company, Inc. for the seismic retrofit of the historical Wohler Road Bridge.
