County of Sonoma seeking public input regarding Graton Rancheria Resort & Casino expansion plans
The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria have issued a Notice of Preparation of a Tribal Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Graton Resort & Casino expansion project. The County of Sonoma is seeking the public’s input to inform its own comments on the Notice of Preparation, which are due on May 4. The county will forward all public comments received with the official county response. Read full story

Bodega Man Sentenced to 10 Years Prison For Multiple Felony Sex Offenses
Defendant Peter Duranceau, 26 years old of Bodega Bay, was sentenced on Monday April 11th by the Honorable Troye Shaffer to serve ten years in state prison after pleading “no contest” in February of this year to ten felony sex offenses. Read full story

Sonoma County residents encouraged to participate in Shake Out earthquake drill on April 18
Sonoma County residents are encouraged to take part in the Sonoma County Shake Out drill to be held on April 18 at 10 a.m., an annual exercise during national earthquake preparedness month. The drill will provide the community an opportunity to practice drop-cover-hold on, which is the recommended action to stay safe when an earthquake hits. Read full story

Charles M. Schulz — Sonoma County Airport hosts local leaders, officials for ‘Topping Off’ of modernized terminal building
County of Sonoma leaders and officials with the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport were joined by Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, Rep. Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, and other local elected officials today for a special ‘Topping Off’ ceremony to finalize the structural framework of the airport’s modernized terminal building. The traditional construction trade “Builder’s Rite” celebration marks the placement of a signed steel beam that is part of the final structure’s framing for the modernized airport terminal, part of an overall $40,000,000 expansion project. PG&E Resolves Prosecution of Kincade Fire
Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced today that Pacific Gas & Electric Company (“PG&E”) entered into a Stipulated Judgment to resolve pending criminal and civil charges against of PG&E related to causing the 2019 Kincade Fire. The Judgment, approved by the Honorable Patrick Broderick, orders PG&E to implement numerous wildfire safety measures in Sonoma County. PG&E’s compliance with these safety measures will be reviewed and monitored by a team of independent experts in the energy field for the next five years. Read full story

County of Sonoma issues annual report on health of retirement system
The County of Sonoma has reduced its unfunded pension liability by 30 percent over the last four years, the result of strong investment returns and decisions by the Board of Supervisors to make early payments on the county’s unfunded liability, according to the fourth annual State of the Retirement System report presented to supervisors today.
