In accordance with the Sonoma County well ordinance, environmental drilling permits for these activities are issued by the Sonoma County Department of Health Services.

Commissary Agreement

Many temporary food facilities use commissary kitchens, and must submit a completed commissary agreement with their permit application.

Food Safety Program

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a final determination regarding PHOs and has determined that they are not generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for human consumption.  This means that PHOs, which are the primary dietary source of industrially-produced trans fats, can no longer be used or served in a retail food facility.

Solid Waste

Environmental Health permits and inspects landfills, transfer stations and other facilities which handle solid waste which require permits to operate under authority of CalRecycle. The program includes response to solid waste illegal accumulation or storage complaints and monitoring waste tire sites and haulers.

Ocean Water Quality

Environmental Health monitors bacterial levels at seven beaches on the Sonoma County coast by collecting and testing weekly water samples between April 1 and October 31.

Well Water Quality

Private well water is not regulated by any government agency and it is the responsibility of the individual property owner to ensure that their drinking water supply is safe by having the well water tested by a state certified laboratory. Landlords are required to provide potable water to their tenants.
