Sonoma Public Infrastructure's offices are now located at 400 Aviation Blvd, Suite 100, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.

Municipal Composting

Compost and recyclable wood can be disposed of at any Sonoma County Refuse Disposal Site, but until further notice, retail sales of municipal compost and recycled wood is no longer available.

Disposal Sites

Republic Services of Sonoma County, Inc. operates a large central landfill, located outside of Petaluma as well as four smaller transfer stations, located in Annapolis, Guerneville, Healdsburg, and Sonoma.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Located at the Central Disposal Site, the Household Toxics Facility is operated by Clean Harbors through a contract with Zero Waste Sonoma.

Reuse & Recycling Center

Recyclables such as scrap metal, cardboard, glass, metal and plastic containers, and newspaper can be conveniently unloaded at the recycling drop-off center, located at the Central Disposal Site on Mecham Road outside of Petaluma.

Natural Gas Recovery

With nearly 24 million cubic yards of solid waste in place, the Central Disposal Site produces about 2,500 standard cubic feet/minute (scfm) of landfill gas. This gas is collected from 150 collection wells and transported through 4 miles of pipeline to the landfill gas-to-electricity facility and to the landfill gas-to-vehicle fuel pilot project.

Wood Recycling

Recyclable wood can be dropped off at any of the County Disposal Sites for a significantly lower cost than disposing of garbage.
