SCEIP Financing News: Lower Interest Rate for SCEIP!
We are pleased to announce that the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) has been approved for an interest rate reduction from 7% to 5.99%!
It’s been a big year for SCEIP. In addition to the rate change, the Program expanded earlier this year and now includes a resiliency component for property owners to make improvements that will make their buildings resistant to wildfire and earthquake damage. There has never been a better time to offer a local alternative to traditional financing.
We’ve bumped up our marketing efforts and will be starting a homeowner workshop series in September. This means LEADS from potential clients! Don’t miss an opportunity to be found on our website, https://sonomacountyenergy.force.com/financing/s/find-a-contractor.
The contractor search tool can be filtered by services offered or sort by locally operated companies. There is even a feature to email contractors directly. Make sure that you aren’t missing out on leads. Check out the search and confirm your information is listed correctly. To make changes, contact your account manager or email SCEIP@sonoma-county.org.
Beginning in September, the Energy and Sustainability Division office will be hosting a series of one-hour, online workshops geared for homeowners on a variety of topics including one on Funding Your Projects - Incentives, Financing, and Rebates. We encourage you to invite your potential clients or staff to learn more about the financing or resources that are available to get their project done.
You can view the entire workshop schedule at:

To RSVP, click the date that you are interested attending and complete the Zoom registration form. Hope to see you or your clients online!
Let’s think about the different ways Property Owners pay for YOUR services:
-
Cash – Hmmm probably not. During this pandemic and uncertainty in the economy, most people are in a “Save it for a Rainy Day” mode.
-
Home Equity Line of Credit – Many banks are freezing or tightening HELOC’s at this time – according to American Banker. https://www.americanbanker.com/articles/banks-tighten-lending-to-nervous-homeowners-hoping-to-tap-equity.
-
Refinancing an Existing Mortgage – Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac are implementing an adverse fee for the privilege of refinancing mortgages. https://www.fhfa.gov/AboutUs/Reports/Pages/Foreclosure-Prevention-Refinance-and-FPM-Report_May-2020.aspx
-
Personal Loan – Seriously? The average interest rate is 11.88% as of 8/5/2020.
-
Credit Cards – Who amongst you wants to borrow at 16.03%?
-
Sonoma County Property Improvement Financing – NOW that’s the ticket! No income verification, home equity based qualification, Participating Contractor list at Property Owners finger tips, payments not due until 11/1/2021 tax bill, almost a full year of benefits including increased comfort-air quality improvement-lower utilities-additional value to your property, and wait for it…5.99% set interest rate for the full 10/20 year payback period.
Got questions? Want our office to work directly with your clients? We are here to help you and your clients get their projects going faster.
