Sonoma County seeks community member to join newly established independent audit committee
The Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector‘s Office is seeking a member of the public to join an independent audit committee, which was approved by the Board of Supervisors during its March 25 meeting. The committee will consist of Supervisors Chris Coursey and David Rabbitt, and one member from the community. Read full story

Up to $80,000 in grants to cover late property taxes available to eligible Sonoma County homeowners
The Sonoma County Treasurer-Tax Collector is notifying homeowners that the California Mortgage Relief Program has raised the limit for assistance with delinquent property taxes from $20,000 to a maximum of $80,000 per household. Read full story

The California Mortgage Relief Program is providing one-time payments to qualified homeowners who have fallen behind on their housing payments. Using $1 billion in federal funds, the program is helping homeowners who had a financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic by covering missed mortgage and property tax payments. Read full story
Board of Supervisors adopts temporary 45 percent reduction of local cannabis cultivation tax rates
The County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors this week agreed to amend the Cannabis Business Tax ordinance to reduce the fiscal year 2021-2022 cannabis cultivation tax rates by 45 percent through June 30, 2023. The reduced rates will be retroactive to July 1, 2021 and are intended to mitigate financial hardship for local operators. Read full story
