  1. Call to Order
    Chairperson Crystal Norris called the meeting to order at 7:09 pm.
  2. Adoption of January 2019 Minutes
    1. Report: Crystal Norris asks if there are any additions or corrections to the January 2019 minutes.
    2. Action: A motion was made by Al Ferris to accept minutes; motion seconded by Jeff Holden.
    3. Passed with: 7 ayes, 0 nays, 5 absent.
  3. Correspondence
    Fish and Game Commission notices.
  4. Financial Reports for March 2019
    1. Report: As of March 31, 2019, the General Fund balance is $15,231.56.
    2. Action: A motion was made by Sharon Ponsford to accept financial reports for March 2019 as presented; motion seconded by Kevin Davis.
    3. Passed with: 7 ayes, 0 nays, 5 absent.
  5. Old Business
    1. Grant Request: Funding of Rain Gear for CDFW local wardens. Report: James Reed of CDFW appeared before the commissioners in support of the grant requests to purchase specialized rain gear for the three wardens who work in Sonoma County. James was available to answer commissioner questions as to the quality and need for the rain gear. Second Reading. Action: Two individual grants approved for a total of $2,148.27. Grant #’s 201 and 202 Passed with: 7 ayes, 0 nays, 5 absent.
    2. Grant Request: Funding for International Bird Rescue. Report: Isabel Luevano appeared before the commissioners on behalf of International Bird Rescue. Ms. Luevano described the program goals, benefits, and successes. She answered questions from the commissioners pertaining to the grant request. Second Reading. Action: Grant approved for $5,000.00. Grant #203 Passed with: 7 ayes, 0 nays, 5 absent.

       

  6. New Business
    1. Grant Request: Funding for Sonoma County Code Enforcement Team. Report: Ryan Pelleriti and Jesse Cablk appeared before the commissioners in support of their grant request. Ryan and Jesse described the equipment that they would like to purchase and explained the need for the equipment. They answered additional questions from the Commissioners. First Reading. Action: Second reading will be at an upcoming meeting.
    2. Scholarship Voting: The Commissioners stated their choices for the 2019 Scholarship Recipients and determined which applicant is to receive the Al Gerhardt Scholarship of $2,000.00. The applications are redacted to ensure impartiality. The Scholarship recipients are:

      • B. Joelle Canto-Adams
      • H. Jazmyne Gill
      • F. Emily Sperou
    3. Action: Commission secretary will notify the applicants receiving scholarships and will invite them to the next commission meeting to receive their award. Secretary will also send regret letters to applicants who will not receive a scholarship.
