County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors to hold annual budget workshops April 22 to April 24

SANTA ROSA, CA | April 19, 2024

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold its annual budget workshops on April 22, 23 and 24 to provide county residents and taxpayers an opportunity to learn about the 2024-2025 fiscal year preliminary spending plan and provide input to the Board of Supervisors before it adopts a final budget in June. The County of Sonoma fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30. The workshops are informational, and the Board will not make any determinations for fiscal year 2024-25 until the June budget hearings.

“The budget workshops provide Board members and the public critical information about department needs and operations that will inform the final budget process in June,” said Supervisor David Rabbitt, chair of the Board of Supervisors. “This is a discussion of how government spends public funds on public services. We encourage all community members to participate.”

The three-day workshop will include presentations of preliminary 2024-25 budgets by each county department, as well as presenting any requests for budget changes to expand or restore services. It offers the Board a chance to ask questions and the public a chance to provide input on departmental budget hearings in advance of final determinations.

The 2024-25 preliminary balanced budget totals $2.4 billion, which is a 3 percent increase from the 2023-24 adopted budget.
