Liz Cruz Reyes

Liz Cruz (pronouns she/they) lives on the indigenous land of the Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok people. Liz is a first-generation college graduate and obtained their Bachelor of Arts from California State University of Monterey Bay. Liz majored in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) and minored in Visual Performing Arts and History. During Liz’s time in Monterey, they worked to tutor students and provide interpreting services for Spanish-speaking families. 

Liz is currently a fellow for 10,000 Degrees and works with high school students. Liz works to provide college and career access for students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds. 

 Liz has been passionate about advocating for human rights since she was a teenager. In 2013, she was part of the first cohort of the Sonoma County Junior Commission on Human Rights. As a Junior Commissioner, they participated in an “Anti-Slut Shaming” Adhoc and as a conference panelist in SF. As a teenager, Liz learned how to speak up against injustice and continues the work today. Liz advocates for decolonization, equity, liberation, and cultural empowerment. She enjoys working to generate positive social change. Liz’s hobbies include watching movies, going to the beach, and hanging out with her family. Liz looks forward to her role as Human Rights Commissioner for District 3.
