Energy and Water Resource Fair for Farms and Other Ag Properties

Farmers, vineyard and other agricultural small-business owners in Sonoma County can seek advice on energy and water conservation during a free workshop and resource fair on November 6^th from 9am-11am at the Sonoma County Farm Bureau.

"Bringing forums to a community level allows a greater focus on the programs and issues in a specific area,” commented Farm Bureau Director, Tawny Tesconi. “While many resources are available, it’s not always clear which will be applicable.”

The event will begin with a keynote address by Joseph Button, Sustainability Director at Straus Family Creamery. Button will speak on the numerous efficiency measures the farm and creamery implemented and their strong beliefs in sustainability as a core value.

Presentations will include information about energy efficiency and water conservation along with resources to access financing, grants, and incentives to help farmers and business owners fund their projects. Representatives from the County, USDA and PG&E along with other programs will be on hand to meet with participants.

Though geared toward farms and small businesses, the event is free and open to the public. There is no cost to attend but pre-registration is preferred. Energy and Sustainability is a division within the Sonoma County General Services Department. In addition to addressing the sustainability within County buildings, the Division is a one-stop shop for residential and commercial property owners providing programs and resources to help them save energy and water. It provides a variety of services including financing, consultations, green business certification, and non-residential audits.
