Supervisorial District 2 MapThe 2nd district includes all of the cities of Petaluma and Cotati and a portion of Rohnert Park, as well as the unincorporated communities of Penngrove, Two Rock, Bloomfield, and a portion of the unincorporated community south of Sebastopol.

Much of the dairy industry is located in the 2nd district, as well as a large portion of the San Pablo Bay frontage.

    The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat recreationally harvested mussels, clams or whole scallops from Sonoma County. Dangerous levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxins have been detected in mussels from this area. The naturally occurring PSP toxins can cause illness or death in humans. Cooking does not destroy the toxin.

    On March 12, 2018, Christopher Godley, a nationally respected emergency services leader, has been temporarily named the interim Emergency Manager of Sonoma County. Mr. Godley will take the helm of the Emergency Services Division for several months while the County conducts a national recruitment to find a qualified individual to serve as the permanent Emergency Manager.

    The County of Sonoma is establishing a Resiliency Permit Center exclusively dedicated to assist survivors of the fires rebuild. The center, which will open on February 13, 2018 will accelerate the permitting process for home owners of the approximately 3,000 residential properties destroyed or damaged in unincorporated areas of Sonoma County
