Cavity Free Sonoma
Children’s Dental Health Project for Sonoma County
The Cavity Free Sonoma Pilot Project is happening now in community clinics for eligible children ages 0-6 years of age. Families are provided with a dental assessment that lets caregivers know if their children are at high, medium, or low risk for dental disease.
Each child and caregiver meets with a bilingual Community Dental Health Worker, or "Tooth Fairy," who helps patients and their parents understand oral health and provides coaching in a culturally relevant way.
The Tooth Fairy also helps the parent or caregiver download an app to track appointments, monitor health goals, and gets tips and reminders via their Apple or Android device.

The Department of Health Services has partnered with local health centers to deliver this care to eligible families. Families interested in receiving services should contact a clinic below.

Cavity Free Sonoma is funded by a grant from the California Department of Health Care Services, and works to improve the oral health of Medi-Cal eligible children age 6 and under through a mobile app, a new workforce, and a standardized caries (cavity) risk assessment.
