*Dry Creek Valley Citizens Advisory Council, Mark West Citizens Advisory Council, and Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission are affiliated with Permit Sonoma, but are administered by the Board of Supervisors.

  • Airport Land Use Commission Thumbnail
    The Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) is resposnsible for regulation of land use around airports. Assists local agencies in ensuring compatible land uses in the vicinity of airports. Provides for the orderly development of air transportation while protecting the public health, safety and welfare. Prepares and adopts a Comprehensive Airport Land Use Plan (CALUP). Reviews the plans and actions of local agencies and airport operators.

    A Board appointed by the Board of Supervisors to hear and decide on building appeals.
  • Board of Zoning Adjustment Thumbnail

    The Board of Zoning Adjustments is part of the Sonoma County Planning Agency.

  • Design Review Committee Thumbnail

    The Design Review Committee (DRC) reviews and approves the design of significant new development projects, such as new commercial development.

  • Directors Advisory Group Thumbnail
    The Advisory Group provides input on areas where improved services or processes are needed, works with the Director and others to develop possible solutions to these issues, and provides feedback on proposals developed by Permit and Resource Management Department staff to address issues identified by the Group.
  • Dry Creek Valley Citizens Advisory Council thumbnail75
    To advise the Board and other County decision makers on local planning decisions relating to the Dry Creek Valley, to provide a regular forum for citizen Participation in the formation of advisory recommendations on those decisions, and to provide a bridge for communication between the County and local residents and businesses, and the general public on local planning decisions affecting the Dry Creek Valley.

    The function of the Environmental Review Committee (ERC) is to review public projects in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to determine whether a Mitigated Negative Declaration or an Environmental Impact Report is required.

  • Landmarks Commission thumbnail
    To protect those structures, groups of structures, sites, and areas that are reminders of past eras, events and persons important in local, state, or national history, or which provide significant examples of architectural styles of the past, or which are unique and irreplaceable assets to the County and its communities.
  • Mark West Citizens Advisory Council Thumbnail
    MWCAC is established to advise the Board of Supervisors and other County decision makers on local planning and management decisions relating to the Mark West Area
  • Planning Agency thumbnail
    The Planning Agency is made up of the Commissioners on both the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustments. They meet on months that have a 5th Thursday. No action is taken at these meetings. Topics can include discussion of planning issues, policies, new information, and staff review of the status of certain programs or projects.
