We Help You Claim Your Benefits

Thank you for your service to our country.

To support you and your family, the Sonoma County Veterans Service Office (VSO) can help you understand the benefits available to you.

We assist you with applications for Federal Veterans Administration (VA), State and local benefits.

These programs may include medical care, funds for education and benefits for your family.

VSO closed for Walk-Ins

Due to the current health emergency, the Sonoma County Veterans Service Office is closed for Walk-Ins. Veteran Service Specialists will provide remote services via telephone or email, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (707) 565-5960. Press 8 to leave voicemail, or email vso@schsd.org. Please allow two business days for a response. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

For additional support for older adults, their families and caregivers, call the Adult and Aging Information and Assistance line, (707) 565-INFO (4636), Monday-Friday.

How to Claim Benefits

The first step is to meet with us in-person to learn about all the benefits available to you and your family. 

Visit our Santa Rosa office during drop-in hours, Monday-Thursday, between 8-11 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. (no appointment needed).

    If you have just a question or two, call us during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at (707) 565-5960.

    Learn about Benefits at Monthly Seminars

    Learn in-depth information about three types of benefit programs for veterans and their spouses. Give us a call to register for these free seminars, held in Santa Rosa once a month on the following Wednesdays:

    Veterans Pension Seminar
    1st Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m.
    A needs-based benefit for wartime veterans with limited or no income, who are age 65 or older and have a permanent and total non-service-connected disability.

    Veterans 100% Seminar
    2nd Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m.
    New benefit for veterans rated at 100%, permanent and total disability, or with individual unemployability due to a service-related disability.

    Surviving Spouse Pension Seminar
    3rd Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m.
    Also called a Death Pension, this is a tax-free monetary benefit, payable to low-income, un-remarried, surviving spouses of a deceased wartime veteran.

    VSO Office Closures
