Human Services Department

The Sonoma County Human Services Department is the right place to start when you need support.

Our programs serve job seekers, employers adults, children, teens, families, veterans, people with disabilities and the elderly.

We provide eligible residents with job training and job search services, enroll eligible individuals and families in CalFresh or Medi-Cal, support veterans, help foster children and teens, and foster parents, protect abused or neglected children and help keep seniors and dependent adults safe. We partner with community organizations countywide to make sure that, together, we can meet residents' important needs.

Becoming a foster family is the first step to adopting a child. Relatives, family friends, single adults, gay couples and families of all types can foster and/or adopt children. There’s a special need in Sonoma County for Spanish-speaking / bilingual / bicultural foster-adoptive families, and those who can care for sibling groups and school-aged children and teens. Please call us at (707) 565-4274 or visit www.sonomafostercare.org.
