Free Tax Help Can Bring You Higher Refunds

Earn it keep it save it thumbnailFor Households Earning $54,000 or Less in 2017

Make an appointment forfree tax preparation help through the Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program. With guidance from experienced tax preparers, you may find you qualify for  federal tax credits that can increase your refund.

Make an appointment at locations throughout the county through April 18 by calling 2-1-1. For details, addresses of tax preparation locations and a list of paperwork to bring to an appointment, visit unitedwaywinecountry.org or call (707) 528-4485, ext. 122. The program is led by United Way of the Wine County and supported by the Human Services Department.

Thursday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., talk with employers at the free Job Link Job Fair, 2227 Capricorn Way, Santa Rosa. Open to all job seekers! The special theme is New Careers for Workers Over 40. 

Tuesday, February 13, from 11 a.m.-12:30 a.m., prep your resume and other skills at a free Job Fair Prep workshop.

    Though household incomes rose in 2016 for some Sonoma County families, more than 160,000 low-income households continued to be unable to afford the food needed to prepare three meals a day. For these residents, many of them children and seniors, going without lunch or missing breakfast is unavoidable even by those receiving help from local charitable and government nutrition programs.
